In drawings, aspects of a person that tend to evade the light of other artistic media can take on significance. This is the case in Mia Unverzagt’s drawings, (…) Words cannot substitute for the aspects that claim importance there – aspects such as fears or aggressions, hurts, infatuations and other states of the soul that are deeply rooted in every one of us. However, these aspects do not appear unambiguously even in the drawings. It seems instead as if every step toward visibility must be caught, or rather warded off, by an opposing movement - a movement that obscures again what had threatened to become clear.
